Hey look, source code!

A few years ago I made some pretty cool Windows programs for talking on the IRCs and uploading/downloading on the FTPs. I haven't really done much to either program since, so I've decided to release the source code to both and let anyone go wild with it. Also it's a good way for me to have a backup copy.

The code is now available on my Mercurial server, as is, and with pieces missing. You're basically welcome to do whatever you want with it as long as you post the BSD license included. Don't be a dick.

Also, you might notice that the web pages for the projects are pretty sparse and probably out of date. This is because very, very few people actually use the software in question, and it's really not worth the effort maintaining the pages.

FTP Update

This is a minor update. I've had a big tidy-up and also I think I've finally got all the file icons looking the way they should.

NB: The image resizer has been removed. If you liked it and want to keep it, don't download version 0.8, and petition me to keep it.

More new stuff

A new version of my FTP Client has arrived, this one is version 0.8 and has some new features:

  • Navigation shortcut keys: Alt+Left/Right for previous/next folder and Alt+Up for the folder containing the current one.
  • A right click menu for easy access to common commands.
  • File and folder permissions (aka CHMOD).
  • Associating remote folders with local folders - this will make much more sense in a future version when some planned features are added.
  • Lots of bugs fixed! This version should be much more stable than the previous.

I don't know when the next version will be out, but I have a good idea of some of the stuff that will be in it. Adding useful features is a lot easier now that most of the groundwork is complete.

Enjoy!

New versions of stuff on the way

I'm just preparing my website to look a bit fancier for when they arrive.

New versions are due for IRC24 (which is ready to go, I just need to package it all up and put it here) and the FTP Client (which still needs a name, and isn't quite as ready to go).

Unfortunately for you it's a brilliant summer here and I may be forced to make the beach a higher priority than writing software.
